Watercolor Cowl

Intarsia is a colorwork technique which enables knitters to insert blocks of color into a background without stranding across the wrong side.  The pattern for the class is worked in stockinette stitch - just basic knits and purls.  The trick is to get comfortable with charts and managing the color changes to the final surface is even and not full of holes.  (And dealing with all the loose ends!)  As a bonus, the design offers an opportunity to practice seaming and has a nice applied icord finish.

Note:  Kaffe Fassett, the designer, is renowned for the use of color in his designs.  The original pattern called for 16 colors - a light and dark for the background and 14 others for the little squares.  We modified it to use just 9 colors and hope you"ll agree we kept the spirit of the piece intact.
