Double Knitting Decoded

A technique that creates a fabric without a “wrong” side, double knitting is a great way to achieve intricately colored designs with simple stitches and no worries about floats or tangling bobbins.

In three sessions, we will make swatches to explore several ways to cast on and bind off.  We’ll learn how to make attractive selvage edges, interpret charts and practice fixing mistakes. A checkerboard pattern is included and you’ll be encouraged, with advice from the instructor, to choose your own project.

This class assumes you can already do a long-tail cast on and know how to knit and purl.  It is suitable for adventurous advanced beginners!

Dates:  Thursday Evenings, May 8, 15,22; 6 - 7:30PM
Cost:    $89 (basic pattern is included)

Skill Level: Intermediate
Skill Details: Students should already know how to do a long-tail cast on and how to knit and purl.
Requirements: Students should bring their own yarn - two strongly contrasting colors - and will use needles two sizes smaller than you'd usually expect to work with it. (For example, if you bring some worsted yarn, you'll need size US 5 or US 6 needles to work with it.)
Instructor: Amy von Gohren
