Beginning Entrelac
Entrelac is a technique that takes your knitting in a whole new direction. (Sorry, this instructor has been rewatching season one of Only Murders in the Building…)
During this three session class, we will
-learn the basics on a swatch
-make a very basic cowl, Silestone by Rosemary Drysdale (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/silestone)
-finally, participants will be ready to tackle the Flechtwerk shawl by Tanja Steinbach (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/entrelac-flechtwerk). We’ll get started in class, point out some pitfalls to get around, and reference some resources to guide you, but participants will complete the shawl on their own time.NOTE: This is NOT a learn to knit class. Participants (age 18+) must know how to knit and purl and be familiar with “reading” their knitting.

| Skill Details: | This technique is really not hard! Anyone who can knit and purl is welcome. We’ll learn how to knit and purl backwards (which may change your life)! There will be homework. |
| Materials Included: | The patterns will be gifted to the participant’s Ravelry account. |
| Requirements: | Materials: For the swatch, about 25g of any light-colored worsted or bulky yarn you have lying around will do, with appropriate needles. For the cowl, 50-100g of aran, bulky or superbulky yarn that you like with appropriate sized needles. The sample was made with 50g (a half skein) of Noro Miyabi on US9 needles. For the shawl, we’ll discuss choices during the first two sessions -the pattern lends itself to playing with colors and textures! The sample was made with 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden Sock and three colors of Rowan Kidsilk Haze on US7 needles. It is understood that participants will purchase yarn for the cowl and the shawl in the shop. |
